There was too much going on last night for me to take notes and recap Lost. Sorry, guys. There's a recap on Lostpedia which is kind of a stub right now but will be updated with more and more detail as the day goes on.
Some thoughts, though:
1. The show LOVES Mama Cass! One of her songs was playing at the opening of season 2, when we first saw Des down in the hatch. And another ironically cheery song of hers was playing when Michael tried to kill himself in his car.
2. What did Tom mean when he said that the island wouldn't let Michael kill himself? Veddy interesting. And true, apparently.
3. Oh, and Tom is gay? The writers have been saying for years that one of the characters is gay. Way to make it the most unexpected character ever.
4. I liked the dramatic irony of how Sayid was furious when he found out Michael was working for Ben. Because watch out, Sayid, you'll be doing the same thing soon enough!
5. So Rousseau is dead. Bummer, I came to like her (although I never really gave a rat's ass about Karl). I think we're supposed to think that the freighter people killed them but I don't buy it. I think Ben gave orders to have Rousseau and Karl killed so that Alex would be all his.
6. It was nice to see Libby, even for just a few seconds, in Michael's imagination. I always really liked her. And I'm glad they didn't bring back A-L!

I think Michael is going to be the guy in the coffin.
1And was he driving the same "car of death" that's in all those other episodes?
Who the heck staged the crash? Whitmore or Ben? I suppose if Ben could stage the crash he could also stage a purchase order and a couple photos, so is it him? What other reason would Whitmore have of wanting Ben?

I really like Michael so I'm all about eppys with him. I liked how the eppy (kinda) explained what happened to Michael & Walt.
So the rest of the Others are in the Temple. Is that the place with the giant 4 toed statue of the foot?
3I think the Temple looked like it was in the middle of the island, and the statue was on the beach.
4Maybe he wants Ben cause he knows all about the Island & its powers
5Oh ok. I wonder when/if they'll tell us what the deal with the statue is
6We still don't know exactly how Michael and Walt made it back to the states...that little boat surely couldn't have made a journey across the Pacific! But we do know that he has been hiding his identity (and Walt's) since coming back.
WHY, WHY, WHY would Michael tell Walt about what happened with Anna Lucia and Libby?!?!? Why would he unload such a burden on a kid with an already fragile psyche?
And did Walt's grandmother look like the same old lady that Miles helped with his "ghostbuster" deal a few episodes back?
I loved the revelation about Tom...remember when he told Kate she wasn't his "type" when they had her in the cage and he brought her the dress??! Too funny!
Ben sure has a thing about disposing of cell phones...first Sayid does it in Berlin, and now Michael tosses his into the water before getting on the boat.
Yay! Libby's back..at least for a few seconds. I really liked her character and I hope she continues to haunt Michael!
I think Ben purposely sent Alex, Karl and Danielle to the "Temple" to get Karl killed, and finally getting Danielle was just gravy for the Others. Ben has wanted Karl dead for a long time so that he wouldn't get Alex preggers...and now with Danielle also dead, then Alex will have no choice but to return to Ben's fatherly embrace.
7On Tom beig gay: kinda saw this coming. Remember when they captured Kate and Sawyer and they put Kate in the shower? And she acted all modest and Tom said, "Sorry Kate...you're not my type."? Back in the day, I checked all different blog posts and threads and everyone was all over that one saying that he was either gay or a robot.
8I think the whole four foot thing with the temple is just going to be a story line that is going to be dropped. Apparently ABC though four toes was just too weird. Too weird on a show with smoke monsters? Well ok... I guess for your peace of mind you should just forget you ever saw it, like the island itself, it does not exist.
