It was a pretty eventful episode to welcome us back the the world of "Lost" after three long months, but, although I enjoyed it, I found myself wanting more.

We found out that Juliet was living in Miami and working at a lab owned by her slimy ex-husband, Ed, while doing some kind of private, secret research using her sick sister Rachel as a test subject. Although Ed wanted in on her research, she interviewed with another lab, Mittelos Bioscience, who was actively recruiting her, due to the fact that she was able to impregnate a male field mouse. She turned down the opportunity with the new lab (which was located in Portland) because she was under the thumb of her ex. She joked with the recruiter, Richard Alpert, that the only way she'd be able to leave her current job is if Ed was ht by a bus, and then left. Meanwhile, her sick sister finally became pregnant, and, as an elated Juliet told Ed, he was - surprise - hit by a bus and killed. As a devastated Juliet cried over his body at the morgue, Richard Alpert, accompanied by none other than Ethan Rom, approached Juliet to offer her the job once more. She said that she'd accept if her sister could come with her, but Richard refused, saying there'd be no place for Rachel to get treatment. When Juliet argued that there were plenty of clinics in and near Portland, Richard replied, "Well, we're not exactly IN Portland..."

On the island, Kate and Sawyer beat the hell out of the Others holding them captive and ran from other gun-toting Others until Alex and her magical slingshot saved the day. Alex helped Kate and Sawyer hide in a hole underground. Meanwhile, Ben lie dying on the operating table. Jack told Tom that Juliet wanted him to kill Ben, which Juliet vehemently denied (although Tom seemed to believe Jack). Juliet ordered the Others to kill Kate and Sawyer, but then Ben awoke and asked to speak to Juliet alone. After their private conversation, Juliet left the OR to help Kate and Sawyer escape.

Alex offered Kate and Sawyer a boat to get back to the other island, but first she asked for help rescuing her boyfriend, Karl (who'd been imprisoned in the cage across from Sawyer in the beginning of the season). They overcame an Other prison guard named Aldo (played by "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's" Rob McElhenny) to find Karl in a room getting the Clockwork Orange treatment - he was drugged heavily and strapped to a chair with his eyes forced open, listening to loud techno music and watching a creepy video, which you can check out here:

After rescuing Karl, Kate, Sawyer and Alex find the boat and are prepared to leave, but then Danny Pickett approaches with a gun to stop them. Luckily for them, Juliet shows up and shoots Pickett dead (thank God, because I hated that guy).

Jack is continuing to work on Ben, with a squeamish Tom assisting, and he accidentally cuts an artery. Kate radios in to Jack to let him know that Juliet is letting them go, and he makes her tell the story that he told her when they first met. She tells him how he made a mistake during surgery and only let the fear get to him for five seconds. Jack fixes the mistake he made on Ben as she's telling him, and then he makes Kate promise that they'll never come back for him.

Juliet lets Kate, Sawyer and Karl get in the boat, but she stops Alex from leaving and we learn that Ben is her father (although I personally don't believe he's her biological father).

Later, Ben is resting and we learn the surgery has been a success. Jack asks Juliet what Ben said to her to make her let Kate and Sawyer go. Juliet tells Jack that she's been on the island for over three years, and Ben told her that if he did what she said, he's let HER go home.

So, we learned that:

1. Juliet is basically a fertility genius
2. She has a sick sister (I assume her sister has cancer, since she wore a headwrap and didn't seem to have any hair, but I'm not sure since they never addressed it)
3. Alex is Ben's "daughter" (although if she's truly Rousseau's daughter, then she probably isn't Ben's biological offspring - most likely Ben just raised her as a daughter)
4. The Others have a brainwashing technique.

I thought it was a pretty decent episode, mostly because I'm glad this storyline is wrapping up. I'm sick of this whole "captive by the Others" thing and I'm excited to see the other Lostaways next week. I miss Locke, Hurley, Sayid, etc. a lot and I'm hoping that the show gets back to its roots a little bit.

What did you guys think?
